We work with researchers to improve their data systems and the availability and transparency of their data to maximize the value of their work for the scientific community, stakeholders, and the public.

About
We believe that listening to the people who use our tools is critical to our success.
We believe that with more people engaged in science better decisions will be made.
We seek to democratize creating and accessing data and empower curious minds to ask questions and explore data about the world around them.

Our board
Our board of directors have a wide range of complementary leadership and experience.

Executive Director
Jane Lauckner Ph.D.
Dr. Lauckner's background is in Neurobiology and Behavior with an emphasis on neurodegenerative diseases. For the past several years, she has worked on the board of directors of several non-profits focusing on young people and elementary education. An avid hiker, gardener, and lover of the ocean, Jane is passionate about projects that merge her interests in science, science education and accessibility, and nature conservation.

Board Chair
Steve Katz Ph.D.

Previously he was a faculty member of the School of the Environment at Washington State University (WSU) where he conducted research on the dynamics of interacting food, energy and water production systems. Prior to WSU, Steve worked as a staff scientist with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). His published research contributions span many topical domains, including biomechanics, informatics, climate science, and fisheries.

Secretary
Kinsey Frick
Kinsey is an ecologist who uses observational studies, animal tracking technology, and experimental behavioral trials to evaluate processes and biological responses in marine and freshwater systems. She is a Scientific Diver and aids in multiple projects with underwater research needs, regularly including Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary kelp forest characterization, and Puget Sound eelgrass community comparisons in urban and less urban areas. Kinsey has a passion for lamprey and nudibranch research. Kinsey participates in the board in a personal capacity.

Treasurer
Jennifer Scheuerell
Jennifer Scheuerell is the CTO at Sharper Informatics Solutions and owner of Sound Data Management LLC. She started out building ecological research databases at the University of Washington before starting a small consulting business. Jenn's work focuses on custom solutions for data collaborations and data migrations for projects big and small.
